Continuing Progress

Hi again,
Things are still going well. I still continue to work out 3 times a week around 3 hours each time. I’m still improving and my muscles are still getting stronger. I can now stand in the walker without using my hands and keeping my body in the middle of the walker without touching the sides with my hips at all for 40 minutes each time consistently. I keep my hips locked and in position by myself. My therapist is there to still block my knees. They still are not locking on their own. I can now keep my balance with no hands and lift weights over my head. I also can keep my balance when they push my hips from side to side. Everyone is excited about it. I used to have to focus a lot while doing this. I now talk as I do this with my therapist and I can still do well without having to focus the whole time. I also work a lot on keeping my core and upper body strong. It’s great as I said before having my core back. I never realized how much I used it until my accident. But now that it’s back, I’m very happy.

I haven’t been doing water therapy these past 3 months because I have been dealing with reoccurring UTI’s and I didn’t want to be in the water in case I was getting bacteria from it. I am now clear of the UTI’s as of last week and I went back in the water for therapy today. It is great to work on making the weaker muscles stronger in there. I’m interested in trying to continue to lock my knees on my own underwater. I hope that they continue to connect more.
I was mapped out again for sensation on Tuesday. I continue to gain more sensation. I can now feel even more soft touch, sharp touch and ice than before. I also continue to feel the pressure touch in many places as I did before. Another thing that is neat about it when they bend or move any part of my body I can tell. Before the stem cell I couldn’t feel any of it.
It has been a nice summer so far it’s going so fast. We have been having lots of fun as a family.
